Alternative Consecutive Interpretation - ACI

The single case where consecutive interpretation doesn’t apply is when a written speech is read and the interpreter is far from the speaker. So, even if time is lost due to the repetition of the two versions one after the other, many meeting organizers have decided to use consecutive interpretation. Intérpretes Asociados, considering this trend and making use of technology, has chosen to render the services of alternative Consecutive Interpretation with Listen Technologies receivers. Through this method, the audience has to use a receiver where the interpreter’s signal is listened to in the language required. In this mode, the interpreters listen to the speaker in English or Spanish with a minimum headphone system and transmit the translation through the transmitter to all the participants. This mode is ideal for Board of Directors Meetings and meetings up to 20 people where there is not enough space to assemble the entire infrastructure required for simultaneous interpretation. Currently, Intérpretes Asociados has 20 Listen Technologies receivers to serve this market segment.

Consecutive Interpretation

What is Consecutive Interpretation? The speaker pauses every two or three phrases to allow the interpreter to have time for interpreting the speaker’s sentences to the other language. The interpreter becomes an integral part of the meeting, as he/she always is very near the people participating in the meeting. Consecutive interpretation is commonly used in tours, informal meetings, trade shows, trade negotiations, receptions, etc.
